April 20, 2011 sandbridgehouses

Spring is here and Sandbridge Beach is in full swing with everyone working hard to get their properties ready for summer. All reports from rental companies are that reservations are going well and are ahead of last year and last year we were 11% up from the previous year. As Sandbridge continues to get more positive attention as a drive to family friendly beach, more people are coming here to see it for themselves.

Our sand replenishment project hit a snag this month with the Corp of Engineers indicating that they could not manage the project since there has been no federal appropriation for this year’s project. The City has publically stated that they will go ahead with the work; it will just take longer for permits and contractors to get lined up. My guess is early 2012 for the project to get started. From talking with City staff our last survey of the beach shows that the beach is healthy in most places and could handle a storm or two before things get to a critical stage. The important thing is that we have the support of the entire city council, mayor, city manager and staff. I will continue to keep you posted on this project. I have also set up a dedicated tab on the home page of www.sandbridgehouses.com for regular updates. Upcoming community events include the Easter egg hunt at Little Island Park on April 23rd; call Amy Barton at 757-478-3139 for details. The Spring Clean Up is scheduled for May 15, also at Little Island Park; call Kevin Wong at 757-615-5376 for details, and we have our April meeting of the Civic League this Saturday, April 16th at 10:30am.

Real estate transactions have picked up as they normally do this time of year with four houses pending (see pdf) and two condos under contract (see pdf). Several more properties are in the inspection stage of the contract process. If you would like more detail and a list of properties for sale please give me a call or email. We are in the process of providing a very easy to use search engine so that you can view all properties for sale with a few clicks of the mouse. I will keep you posted.

I would like to wish you all a wonder full Easter Holiday with family and friends. See you on the beach!

Aloha,
Pat
