At the next Civic League meeting (Feb. 18 @10:30) city officials will provide an update for the Sand Replenishment Project. According to City of Virginia Beach staff the resort strip project and the Sandbridge project will be combined.
This should increase interest in the project from the beach engineering and construction industry and generate competitive bids for the work. If successful, this will be the first time that the two projects have been combined.
In December, Congress passed a bill that enabled the Corp. of Engineers to manage the project without federal financial participation; this has cleared the way for our next replenishment.
