The US Senate voted in favor of the Homeowner Flood Insurance Affordability Act on January 30, 2014. The bill will be sent to the House of Representatives where there are already 181 co-sponsors in favor of the bill. 30 more would bring it to a House majority. The National Association of Realtors (NAR) is doubling up their efforts to get this bill passed.
If passed by the House, the bill will delay implementation of flood insurance rate hikes and also appoints a FEMA insurance advocate to handle issues in regards to excessive rate quotes or homeowner complaints.
