Sandbridge Sunrise gathered conch shells after Hurricane Sandy washed them ashore.

Sandbridge Beach is busy today with residents cleaning up the debris Hurricane Sandy left behind on our streets and on the beach.  We experienced tidal flooding as well as strong wind gusts through Monday evening.

Many residents were posting pictures and video on social media of the water running from the ocean down Sandfiddler Road during high tide on Monday morning.  The majority of tidal flooding occurred on the 3500 block and Sandpiper Road was under water in that area.  Sandbridge Road and Dam Neck were both impassable off and on throughout the storm.

Flood waters have receded from the roads except for a few large pools of standing water.  There appears to be no structural damage to homes, but there were many decks on oceanfront homes that will require repairing.  Little Island Pier is closed today until workers are done assessing the damage and making any necessary repairs.
