June 19, 2012 sandbridgehouses

Summer 2012 kicked off to a great start in Sandbridge Beach. Memorial Day weekend blessed us with great weather and was capped off on Monday with the 1st Annual Memorial Day parade in Sandbridge Shores. A great time was had by all participating and viewing as the parade went from Bluebill Dr. along Tuna Lane and ended in the cul-de-sac on Wood Duck. My son is already looking forward to next year!

There has been another significant update with our sand replenishment project this month. The following is an excerpt from a memo issued by our Deputy City Manager, Dave Hansen;

“Thanks to the collaboration of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, our Virginia Congressional Delegation, the City Council and our legislative and water resources staff, City Attorney Mark Stiles and City Manager Jim Spore were able to formally execute the final Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) this morning, 25 May, which allows the Corps to accept contributed funds from Virginia Beach to perform the sand renourishment at Sandbridge Beach”

This is great news for Sandbridge Beach, the project is expected to begin in December.

In real estate news, the month of May produced 5 sold homes and 3 condos. This continues to be an improvement from last year. Of significant news is the number of homes “pending” as of June 15th, the total is 11. “Pending” means that the home inspections have been done and all that is left is appraisal and closing. None of these properties are short sales or foreclosures, these sales should continue to stabilize the Sandbridge real estate market.

That’s all for now, enjoy the summer and hope to see you on the beach.

Aloha,
Pat
