The Sandbridge Beach community recieved some postive news this week regarding the Sand Replenishment. Representative Scott Rigell and the House of Representatives approved the Energy and Water Development Appropriations Act. Within the Act, Rigell included wording that would remove the federal barrier that had restricted the Army Corps of Engineers from accepting the necessary funds that Sandbridge had raised for the replenishment project.

Now the bill will head to Senate, and once approved will continue on to President Obama’s desk for his signature.

Many people around the area are very excited about the positive news coming from Washington. In a press release issued after the news, Mayor Will Sessoms said, “We are glad that Congressman Rigell has been successful in including legislative language that will override this seemingly ridiculous internal regulatory interpretation at the Corps.”
