It appears that our sand replenishment project has hit a “bump in the road”. After the City of Virginia Beach requested that the Corp. of Engineers start the process of getting permits for our next project, an opinion letter from the legal branch of the Corp., has determined that they cannot manage this project without federal funds. We have been guaranteed by the City that the project will go forward, it will just take longer for permits to be issued and contracts to be awarded, since this work is normally done by the Corp. The new potential start date for the project according to city officials is either late 2011 or early 2012. I will post more information as I receive it.
