September in Sandbridge

September is going by fast, with the excitement of Hurricane Earl, which thankfully was a non-event, and the Annual Pig Pickin’; the community has not had time to slow down after the summer season. The Pig Pickin’ was another huge success. Record numbers of people came out to enjoy the live music, good food and “the beer truck”. It’s always great to see everyone celebrating life in Sandbridge and raising money for the Rescue Squad.

August was a slow month for real estate sales; however September should make up for it with five homes currently under contract. There was one condo sold during the month and one pending (see pdf). From all accounts it was a record season for the vacation rental business. Most folks I’ve talked with say that 2011 is already ahead of last year for reservations. The word is getting out about how great the beach is and all the amenities the community has to offer a family on vacation.

As of this newsletter it looks like Hurricane Igor and Tropical storm Julia are heading for the open Atlantic which could be trouble for Bermuda? Check the website for regular updates on these storms and any impact for Sandbridge Beach. That’s it for now, enjoy the fall weather.
