Temperatures are dropping significantly and with winter right around the corner it is time to help those who do not have homes to keep them warm. Volunteers of America and the Lighthouse Center are in the midst of a Blanket Drive, hoping to reach a total of 1,000 donated blankets for their emergency shelter.
If you would like to donate, please bring new or used washable blankets (twin size preferred) to The Lighthouse Center/Volunteers of America located at 825 18th Street in Virginia Beach, or you may also drop them off at the Sandbridge Community Chapel.
If you do not have time to purchase blankets, but would like to donate they are also accepting checks, cash, or Target/Wal-Mart/K-Mart gift cards.
Large and/or bulky donations can be arranged for pick up service by calling the Lighthouse Center at 437-4911.
