We all have those moments where we open the fridge to find a smell that we just can’t get rid of, or grease stuck on a cast iron pan that won’t completely come off. We scavenged the internet to find a few hacks that will save you time and possibly a headache.

Natural Cleaning

Trying to get grease off a cast iron pan without scratching it can be irksome. After you remove the big food pieces out of the pan add a little bit of quick oats and warm water. Rub the oats and water until you get an oatmeal paste which will absorb the left over grease in your pan. Just rinse off and clean as normal.

We all know the trick to getting rid of a stinky smell in the fridge is to put a box of baking soda in the fridge. Well did you know if you put a can of oatmeal it will do the same trick?

Cooking Tips and Tricks

Who doesn’t love garlic? What we don’t like is having to peel the skin off all the cloves. After you have broken apart the garlic into its separate cloves, simply put them in a plastic container or box with a lid, and shake for approximately 30 seconds. Garlic gloves will be pealed and ready to be used!

Softening butter is sometimes a hassle. You don’t want to melt it completely and you want it to be soft enough to mix. Place your stick of butter between two sheets of wax paper and use a rolling pin to flatten out the butter.

Travel Hacks

The best part of the beach is the water and the sand, unless you are a smart phone. To keep your phone safe but still useable. Simply place it in a plastic ziplock bag! You will be able to use it and keep it protected.

Taking a road trip? That means sometimes eating in the car. To keep food upright and not all over the place, just put it all in an arts a crafts caddy.
